Coil spring
MG: MGA (1955-62) • MGB (1962-80) • MGB V8 (1973-76)
front suspension - spring rate: 660 lbs/in, up to 5,5 cm lowered depending on model, free height: 6.7"
Going still further with suspension modifications, lowered and uprated coil springs become desirable. Please note: the height will vary from GT to Roadser, from crome bumper to rubber bumper and from 4 cylider cars to 8 cylinder cars.
The 'strength' of a spring is referred to as the spring rate. Unfortunately, the spring rate is specified in different units. While the metric system of units (N/mm) is common in Europe and the rest of the world, imperial units (lbs/inch) are still used in the USA and in the UK.
