John Leslie Hardy invented the universal joint, which is best known as the Hardy washer. It is used to connect the steering tubes on numerous British classics. The vibrations that are transmitted to the rider via the handlebars are supposed to be reduced in this way. As this joint is the only connection between the handlebar and the rider, it must be inspected regularly. If it were to break, the vehicle would no longer be steerable.
Limora has developed an improved Hardy joint that cannot break at all. A patent pending 3-piece HiTec rubber-metal element milled from Al7050. The locking washer is made of high-strength tool steel. A specialist for highly stressable rubber-metal joints produces this part for us in small series.
